Summer Time Bass Fishing

May 17th, 2009 · No Comments

Well, the crappie spawn is mostly over with now, and the bass have done their thing and it is time to think about the hot months ahead of us. A lot of anglers say that the big Bass Hogs are going to the deep holes and will not bite anything.

Wrong answer, this is when the Top Water Baits early in the morning and just before dark come into play. I recommend a Spook, Buzz Bait, Frogs, or a soft plastic that looks like a Shad.

With all the rain the south has received from Mother Nature, you will notice that there is a lot of water in behind trees and in the grass. This is where you should hit first and I know for a fact that it will produce.

Want to give that heart of yours a kick start?

Work the grass and trees in the shady part real hard and see if that does not produce some nice fish. If you noticed and have read my earlier articles I have mentioned two of the spots that I harp on, grass and wood. It all comes into play so many times, always look for grass , wood, and rocks. By now with all I write about you should be getting the picture of where to look for MR. BASS HOG.

Another great tip is look for small fry that are bunched up right now and I promise you a bass in the mix. The males will swim with the fry until they are big enough to make it on their own before leaving them. With the Bass Spawn coming to a end the Big girls and boys will be making their way to the deep part of the ponds, Lakes where the water temp will be most Comfortable for them.

I know a lot of anglers can not take the heat, so here comes night fishing into play, and this is the time to refresh by reading my bass night fishing article so you will be ready.

I would like to hear from you about your trips or hints that will help our younger folks catch some fish. Do not forget the summer is when they hold a lot of fishing Rodeos for the kids and I hope that you take the time in your busy schedule to either take that young one of yours fishing or just help out. This is another good time to not forget Grandma or Grandpa, maybe they would like to get involved and fish.

Most of all get out there and enjoy Mother Nature, pictures can not replace you being outdoors.

Keep The Hooks Wet
