Getting Ready for 2009 Honey Holes

January 5th, 2009 · No Comments

I hope that you have not forgotten the article I wrote about  making your own Honey Holes, if so go back and read the article. The reason I brought this up it is the new year and a lot of folks have taken down the Christmas Trees and put them on the curb.

Yesterday the weather was not that great, but still ventured out to a local lake to see if I could out smart MR. Bass. It was right in an incoming front and was able to catch two that would have made it to the tournament scales.

They were pure white telling me they must have been real deep and just came up for a quick snack.

I was throwing a Chrome and Blue Rattle Trap in about 8 feet of water and when it reached 3 feet of water, they hit it.

I also noticed that all the rain the Mid-south has received has filled the local ponds, but fortunately giving me a chance when the water was down to see everything that I will be throwing at this Spring. Make a trip while the water is down so you will know where to plant your trees.

While fishing until about noon when the cold and rain came in, thought about collecting some Christmas Trees for this years Honey Holes; later, was able to get 15 nice trees and have them stacked up next to the house to dry out.  Looked for the blue spruce; they seem to work better. Last year when I first wrote about setting out the trees I failed to show how I put them together.

Feb 09 is when we have scheduled to go to Pickwick and will take pictures of how I set the trees up and where to place them.

You have to check back to see how this is done.

Have found, I think, a secret that no one has talked about and I mean Crappie honey hole.

I will check it out, then report to my readers here on the blog or my crappieslabfishing.com site to tell you where to get your share of great tasting fish plus a freezer full.

Everyone stay in touch.

Looking at the visits, it appears I have captured your interest. Now, all I have to do is get you on the fish.

Keep The Hooks Wet
