Fishing Updates

I know a lot of you have put the boat, rods and reels up due to the cold weather. I have to tell you this guy is still been at it and have done pretty good.

In the past three weeks have made three trips to the Tennessee River and have caught some nice Bass. I am not talking Hogs but if you launch your boat in 32 degrees and still caught 31 Bass. Not bad, Granted they may only be a pound and a half or two pounds, but they are still fun to catch.

I turned down one trip, because I thought it was going to rain all day, could have shot myself in the foot for listening to the weatherman.

The guy that asked me to go went ahead and caught 71 and the biggest was 5 pounds.

If you want to venture out, first of all dress for the worst you can always remove some clothes as the day warms up.

Would suggest to try and find a flat about 5 feet of water, with some grass on it and make sure that it has a drop off. The fish we have been finding are on the ledges of the drop off.

Fishing a Texas Rig ,Ring Worm and throwing up on the flat and dragging the worm off the flat. If you noticed, I told you to drag it. The fish are not that active, but dragging will stir up some mud and get their attention. As soon as the worm drops off the ledge, keep your line tight. That technique is when I was getting most of my hits on the drop.

They are not just tickling the worm. It is no doubt when they hit it, a few of them I thought were going to take the rod out of my cold hands.

Again it is cold out there so do not over do it. Discovered they bite real good, then shut down for about thirty minutes, then hit again. The Bass are coming up for a meal on the flat then, dropping back down to the ledge.

The surface temp was  about 49 degrees and I know a few feet down the water is still warm, the cold stuff has not gotten that deep yet.

I fished for about five or six hours then headed for home.

If the cabin fever is already getting to you, try it out.

At the local ponds, look for the fish on points and most of all, if you think you are fishing slow, you must fish slower.

Keep The Hooks Wet
