A lot of guys have been waiting and it seems that the 70 degree weather that we have had was just the ticket. Yesterday, I visited that pond near the house to check and see what the Bass were doing.
When I started off yesterday, I thought it was going to be a bad day because of the wind and clouds. I thought I was going to really have to work hard to get a bite.
I caught three right off the bat but they were what I call dinks, then I noticed that the bass were talking to me and I was not paying any attention. If you have not read the article on do fish talk to you at www.basshogfishing.com, go read it and see what I am talking about.
I noticed there was like what I will call ell grass about four feet off the bank and it was just under the surface dancing under the water. It ran the whole length of the bank.
All the fish I was catching were on the edge, in the middle, or outer edge. They seem to be waiting to ambush the bait fish.
O.K. now I have got the pattern down of what they are doing, and if you notice almost everything I am telling you about is something that I wrote a article about on my web site telling you what to look for at a lake, Season Patterns, Bass Talking to You, Fishing Grass, and paying attention around you to see what is going on.
That is just what I did yesterday and just down from where I was standing not a foot from the bank I saw this tail appear and start waving back and forth. I stood and watch it and then slowly slipped up to the spot and spook the fish off.
I proceed down the bank a little further and then looked back and saw the tail again. It was a big male bass making the bed for the female to lay her eggs. That is when I guess I woke up because I started seeing it every few steps I took; letting me know that in the new two weeks the Bass Hogs will be in full swing of the spawn and it will be the time if I want to get some good pictures.
So it looks like the Bass spawn is getting started and wanted to update everyone on what is happening around Memphis Tennessee and by the way, I ended up yesterday with 45 bass for three hours fishing.
Keep the Hooks Wet!
