Folks this is what I am talking about I want to hear from you and will try and get it up on the website or at least the Blog.

Butch Gregory one of my readers and the one that won the Bill Dance Complete Bass Fishing course drop me a funny story and I promised that I would figure out a way to get it up on the site.

Here is what he sent me Quote:

“Won the videos from you, got to watching them.  Particularly the segments on Winter fishing. Now I’m a slightly over fifty, fairly educated person, got a good job with a large southeastern  mortgage  company. Bought a new bait-caster rod & reel with some Christmas gift cards. First one for me, I know it takes a little practice.

So I’ve been in my driveway casting and making adjustments.  High temp in Richmond , VA today  a balmy 36. So about 2:30 today at peak high temp  I stroll across the road with my new fishing rod to the little pond through the woods.

You know just to do a little practice casting knowing full well I’m no Bill Dance and did not expect the fish to bother me.

I know you expecting that story about the 13 pound-er caught in the middle of winter.

Anyone got any hockey sticks!  Pond frozen solid, coulda probably walked across.

Forgot its been below freezing at night for about the last 2 or 3 weeks here in Richmond .

We have in the past been able to fish year round of course…in my defense!

Have a great New Year!

Butch Gregory”

Thank you Butch and I have answered him stating that if he has problems with his new Bait Caster just let me know and we both can work it out.

One of the biggest problems when someone gets their first Bait Caster is the back lashes or (professional over runs). I tell that person first of all have plenty of spare line to put on the reel after they have to cut it out a few times. If you are using Braided line make sure when loading your reel that you first put on a backing….like masking tape then the Braid, this will keep the line from trying to back off when not in use.

Another good tip would be cast as far as you can…then put some masking tape on the reel, then reel it back in. This will keep you from getting a bad case of back lash deep in the spool.

Thanks again and would love to hear from my other readers.

Keep The Hooks Wet

Steve
