Fishing Regulations, License and Reports
I'll be including personal fishing reports in the section below the map covering the
midsouth area states Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee based on my experience fishing the area lakes.
You will also find information about any regulation changes that I hear about for these three
states.
Keep in mind that I try to get out on the lake as much as you do so click on the state links for
the three midsouth states below to read all of the fishing regulations to stay out of trouble.
To help anglers across the United States, I have included a quick link map to each
state's government fishing resources web site page for your convenience.
You can quickly find out the regulations for each state by using the map
link below. You can also use the map to see which states allow you to purchase a fishing license directly on-line at their official web site. Some states do and some
don't.
Many of the states have excellent weekly fishing reports on their web site to let you know
what fish are biting on the lakes in your area. You may get lucky enough to find your self right on top
of a fishing hotspot.
Add my site as a favorite to have one place to find a link to each states' official fishing web
sites to help you plan that vacation fishing trip free of potential fines from the game wardens. They don't
take "I didn't know" as an excuse for violating their state's fishing regulations.

Have to tell you, I was in Panther Creek at the back and found some 57 degree water off a
point that turned out deadly. Caught 15 nice bass between 2 1/2 and 3 pounds and over half were Spots.
The wind came up pretty strong, but the really great thing about fishing Pickwick Lake
is that you can always find a nice cove out of the wind.
All the fish today were taken off a Rat-R-Trap Crome and blue 1/2 ounce. About 2pm, they seemed
to want something in the bone color, and would not hit the chrome and blue.
As I make some of the trips I will put the honey hole outcome on my site as fast as possible so you do
not miss out.
Right now Pickwick Lake is down, but look for them to bring it up in the upcoming months. For
the anglers that don't know, the lake water level is controlled by Pickwick Dam.

For all you folks headed out to catch some small mouth, just out of Bass Times.
A new 18 inch Minimum length limit for smallmouth bass went into effect
at Fisheries across the state this month. Kentucky, Dale Hollow, and
Douglas reservioirs will be excluded from this restriction. O
n Boone, South Holston and Watauga Reservoirs, the new Minimum length limit
on smallmouth bass will be 16 inches, but will increased to 18 inches next
year.
Other 2008 regulation changes for black bass on various Tennessee waters
can be viewed in the News section of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources
Agency's Web site at www.Tennessee.gov/twra
Also for the boat owners the New Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission approved
changes in boating registration and fees for the 2008 season. Fees for boats 16 feet or less will increase
for $10.00 to $13.00, and fees for boats more than 16 feet - but less than 26 feet in length will cost
$25.00. All boats must also have validation decals affixed to each side, preceding the Tennessee
identification number.
