around a tree that was laying in the lake.
The fish weighed approx 6 pounds and the
water temp was 65 degrees.

Rookie Bass Angler, Matt
Mcgoldrick, Landing His
1st Bass
|

|
This year, my nephew, Matt Mcgoldrick,
joined the ranks of fellow anglers who
know the enjoyment,
peace and fun of chasing the
bass hog while practicing Catch and
Release.
Being a rookie who is learning tips
from me in person, Matt is shown
here holding a 1-1/2 pound bass
caught on a February 2009 morning with
partly sunny skies, a water temp of 48
degrees and an outside temp 63 degrees.
He caught this bass in about 4 feet of
water using his 1st Baitcaster with a
spinner bait.
He is learning fast...almost too fast.
Now, I have a bragging competition
within the family. Let the fun begin!

Looks like my nephew Matt Mcgoldrick
is still trying to catch the Basshogfishing
Brag Board record for this year.
The first two images are the same fish that
hit the scales at 4 pounder and the last
two images are a 6 pounder were caught
with over cast skies, air temp 82, water
temp high 70's on a rage tail shad.
He is fishing in the same private pond that
I caught the 11 pounder; I think he is
still looking to either tie with me or try
and move ahead.
Matt tells me it is hard at times because
he has to share this lake with the most
snakes I have ever seen in one place. That
is why he is fishing over there and not me.

Steve Mcgoldrick
working his magic to land a 11 pound
hog
|

|
|
My nephew, Matt Mcgoldrick, should have
been with me on this quick trip where
I fished from the bank.
I caught this hog on 3-9-09 at 2pm with an
outside temp of 76 degrees and a water temp
of 54 degrees.

Steve Mcgoldrick Caught The Bass
Hog Below On August 23, 2009 In A Private
Pond
|

|
Steve Mcgoldrick enjoyed landing this
pretty bass hog using his favorite
bait, a Bass Pro
Ringworm (Junebug) 7" while fishing
a private pond near Memphis,
TN.
The 2 man boat worked great by allowing
them to easily cover the entire pond.
Taking advantage of a rare cool August
morning temp of 64 degrees, Steve
caught this beauty in 84 degree
water.
And this time, he and not just his
watch actually made it into the
picture.

Justin Seale closing in on the
family title. I better watch out!
|

|
|
Looks like my nephew, Justin Seale, is
ramping up the pressure on me and
Matt.
Justin caught this 6 1/2 pound beauty in a
water temp 60-65 in 3ft of water around 7:30pm
on a chartreuse booyah bleeding buzz with a
gold blade.
As Justin put in his email
"BOOOOOYAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I think that means
he is looking for the family title.

Rookie Bass Angler, Darrin
Hillis, Landing A
Nice Bass Right Outside His
Office
|

|
|
Darrin
Hillis is another bass angler
newbie who looks like he'll be
learning fast especially
with him having access to a lake right
outside his Cordova, Tennessee office. It
sounds like my kind of
office.
Darrin caught this nice
bass on a ultra light rod early in the
morning using a Chatter
Bait.

Rodney Henke Getting On The
Bass Hogs
|

|
|
Rodney Henke is about to do some work on my
roof and saw that I was into Bass fishing
and was interested in going with me. I
think he thought it was one of those fish
stories.
On a day he came by to inspect my
house I told him to be at my house on
11/22/09 at 9:30am and I would prove I do
not walk the walk or talk the talk and was
prepared to back up what I write about.
I got up early Sunday morning to make sure
that I had everything ready and at 8:30am
Rodney pulled up.
The sky was cloudy and overcast and I was
not sure that I could hold up my part of
the promise that I would put him on
some fish. The only thing I had in my favor
was we had a low pressure on us and that
should make the fish move.
We arrive at the lake to find that the
surface temp was 55 degrees and the
outside temp was close to the same.
Well, after two hours I think I sent Rodney
home happy that we got on the fish and do
not let the picture fool you. I did catch
some, but was more interested in making
sure he left a happy angler...not to
mention he picked up a few tips on how to
throw a Bait caster.
I told him as we parted to keep the hooks
wet and practice.

Erin Gregory showing the results
of hunting the bass hog just right
|

|
|
Erin Gregory, a new Bass Hog Hunter,
displays her first of many Big Hogs to
come.
Girls, look out...we have another Girl that
could be looking at the WBT (Womens Bass
Tournament).
Erin's first big bass caught was
6 - 6.5 pounds using a live
minnow in the city of Richmond.
The Air temp was 63 and the water temp was
about 55. I'm told her and
her boyfriend fish here a lot
using Spinner Baits and other
lures.
I'm putting out a Challenge to Erin....I
have caught two 11 pounders try and beat my
record and send me the
picture.
Great job and Keep The Hooks
Wet.
